Indian River Lagoon cleanup, Treasure Coast dollars for Alzheimer’s care, mental health services and a St. Lucie County literacy program for underprivileged 2- and 3-year-olds and to revamp an Indian River State College campus? Scott chopped about $368 million worth of projects, trimming next year’s state budget to about $74.1 billion. About $5.3 million of his vetoes hit the Treasure Coast directly.
The Indian River Lagoon project was due $2 million before Scott chopped it out. The money would have helped Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute buy new equipment to track the physics, chemistry and biology of the lagoon’s water
