Brevard proposes new landfill for construction debris Wochit
Another old dinosaur type landfill in central Florida has reached its usefulness.
And will be polluting our land for centuries.
While Florida officials still procrastinate?
Or should I say, that they will just spend millions more of our tax dollars
to start another ‘Dinosaur type smelly, polluting, landfill.
Landfill plan comes before Brevard commission

Brevard County commissioners on Thursday will consider whether they want to push forward with
developing a site just north of U.S. 192 in western Brevard for the county’s next landfill.
The 2,980-acre site in unincorporated Brevard, just east of the Osceola County line, has been under consideration for landfill use for decades. The county paid $10.04 million, including legal fees, in 1991 to acquire the site from Deseret Ranches of Florida. The site is surrounded by property owned by agricultural companies.
But the project remains controversial, with Commissioners Andy Anderson and Trudie Infantini among those having qualms about the site.
During a County Commission meeting in February, Infantini she was concerned about potential harm to wetlands from the proposed site and about its location off U.S. 192 — a route to Brevard from the Orlando-area tourist corridor.
Anderson said he wanted Brevard County to explore the option of using a privately owned landfill in Osceola County.
